Katryn Bowe
Katryn graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. She studied global health policy and economic philosophy with an emphasis in international development issues. She has conducted field research in rural Cameroon, interned at a microfinance organization in Peru, and served as a research assistant at Water Advocates in Washington, DC.

Samuel Ball-Brau
Samuel Ball-Brau is a rising senior at Johns Hopkins University. In addition to studying political science and economics, he has spent time working with governmental institutions in his native Baltimore, including the Baltimore City Public Schools and the Office of Public Defender. Samuel has focused his studies on issues of international conflict, particularly food security.

Molly Walton
Molly graduated from Wheaton College in 2008 and she is currently pursuing her MA at Boston University, focusing on International Relations and Environmental Policy. Molly is interested in transboundary water conflict/cooperation and basin management, water policy/governance, climate change and its impact on natural resources, and China.

Kyle Thompson-Westra
Kyle graduated from Tufts University in 2008, where he studied Political Science and Economics. Also interning with the CSIS Office of the Chief of Staff, his interests include international economics, development, rule of law, civil liberties, and Latin America.

Andy Schneider
Andy Schneider is a recent graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in International Relations and History and spent two and a half months in Papua New Guinea as assistant director of Panango. He is interested in political stability, states in transition, conflict, and environmental policy.

John Casebolt
John Casebolt is majoring in engineering/physics and applied math with a minor in political science at Southeast Missouri State University. He is interested in technology, global cooperation, and future trends. John expects to graduate in May 2010.

Ian Gross
Ian is currently a junior at the University of Maryland, where he studies philosophy and Chinese. His academic interests include: legal reform initiatives, long-range planning, China, and U.S. foreign policy.

Emily Poster
Emily recently graduated with an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her research interests include global health, Africa policy, long-range planning and communicating science to non-technical audiences. Her favorite color is green.

Jeff Lyu
Jeff Lyu is a senior political science student at UCLA. He spent a semester at Lund University in Sweden, and recently completed a research paper on foreign balancing efforts against U.S. unilateralism. He is a member of the UCLA Rugby Team, and serves as a program director and member of the board of trustees for UCLA UniCamp, the official charity of UCLA students.

Chris Hall
Chris is a recent graduate of the College of William and Mary, where he studied international relations and history. His academic interests include: Russia and Eurasia, post-conflict reconstruction, ethnic conflict, and energy policy.

Sammy is in her final year at Duke University, where she is studying public policy and economics. She is interested in international trade/economics; energy policy; and climate change and environmental policy.

Amy McNally
Amy McNally is currently a PhD student at the University of California, Santa Barbara where she is studying how international conflicts over water resources and biofuels may be exacerbated by global climate change. Prior to interning at GSI, she completed her Master's degree in Water Resource Policy and Management at Oregon State University.

Julie Elkins
Julie graduated with honors in December 2008 from Penn State Behrend with a double major in Political Science and Psychology as well as double minors in International Studies and Civic and Community Engagement. She is interested in long-term, strategic problem solving for global issues like development and environmental sustainability.

Tiffany is currently finishing her Master of Science in Foreign Service degree at Georgetown University. Her interest areas include U.S. foreign policy, political and security issues in Russia and Eurasia, and nonproliferation.

Eric is currently a senior at the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University. His
areas of interest include Conflict and Security Studies, Privacy vs. the Surveillance Society, Turkey,

Service in American Society.

Kartik Akileswaran
Kartik is currently based in Lima, Peru as a Project Associate for Innovations for Poverty Action. He graduated from Brown University in 2007 with a B.A. in Public Policy. His areas of interest include democratization in the developing world, globalization and development, and politics in South Asia and southern Africa.

D. Ryland Potter is currently a graduate student at the University of Texas, Austin in the Global Policy
Studies program. She has also served as a graduate intern with the UNDP Early Recovery Team. Her interest areas

Anna currently serves as the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Coordinator at Stockland . She is also undertaking a Master of Commerce (Economics) at Sydney University. Her areas of interest include corporate responsibility and sustainability (particularly how to embed it within organizational strategy); carbon accounting; and climate change policy.

Rodney Hughes
Rodney is currently a Ph.D. student in economics at Penn State University, where he has taught intermediate microeconomics and advanced international trade. He was appointed to Penn State's Board of Trustees by Governor Rendell, July 2008 - June 2011. His interest areas include international trade, development, political economy, and education.

Ali Wyne
Ali recently graduated from MIT and is now serving as a Junior Fellow with the China Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is interested in globalization, international development, U.S. foreign policy, China, and India. Ali is also a fellow with the CSIS Next America project.

Aaron Goldblatt
After graduating from Penn State with degrees in Finance and History in May, 2008, Aaron is now a Research Analyst at a consulting firm in Chicago. His interests include national security and international development and cooperation.

Martha is currently an Investment Banking Analyst with Hill Street Capital LLC (New York,NY). Her areas of interest include environmental policy, international relations, art and architecture.

Eun-Ha interned with GSI while undertaking her graduate studies at SAIS. She is currently serving as an Analyst with Goldman Sachs. She is interested in international law, international organizations, and security.

Eric interned with GSI during his graduate studies at George Washington University. He is currently a White House Reporter with The Asahi Shimbun and he is interested in U.S. foreign policy, China, climate policy, and journalism.

Travis Elliott
Travis interned at GSI after completing an MSc. at the University of Edinburgh. Now he is a research associate with the Hills Program on Governance and co-director of the Next America project at CSIS. He is interested in Nation-state Building and State Sovereignty; Democracy Promotion in U.S. Foreign Policy; and Transatlantic Relations and Defense Cooperation.
