The conclusions of the Global Strategy Institute's various projects are captured in several riveting, fast-paced, multi-media presentations enjoyed by audiences around the world. Erik R. Peterson, the Institute’s founder and director, has spoken to every sector—from government to private industry to academia to non-profit—and in every setting—from small local boardrooms to large auditoriums. These presentations are constantly updated to reflect the latest data and research.
Seven RevolutionsThe SEVEN REVOLUTIONS initiative dares to do what fewer and fewer organizations are able to do—to consider the long-term implications of global trends facing the world. The project maps seven key trends that will effect change out to the year 2025, providing leaders with a comprehensive outline of the major challenges that lie ahead. The seven “revolutionary” areas of change are (1) population; (2) resource management; (3) technology innovation and diffusion; (4) information and knowledge flows; (5) economic integration; (6) conflict; and (7) governance. Each of these "revolutions" embodies both promise and peril and it is up to every one of us to determine the trajectory these revolutionary forces will follow.Seven FuturesThe SEVEN FUTURES project, an outgrowth of the Seven Revolutions initiative, assesses the defining outlines of the world in the year 2025 by examining the “alternative futures” of seven key regions of the world. Seven Futures zooms in on specific policy challenges raised by global strategic trends—ranging from demographic change to the allocation of scarce resources to systems of governance. The seven regions the project explores include: (1) Latin America and the Caribbean, (2) Europe, (3) the Middle East and North Africa, (4) Sub-Saharan Africa, (5) Russia and Central Asia, (6) South Asia, and (7) East and Southeast Asia. By looking at broader regional trends and identifying specific countries driving regional change, Seven Futures provides an expert “bird’s-eye view” of tomorrow’s challenges.Global Water FuturesThe GLOBAL WATER FUTURES project assesses the impact of international water issues on U.S. strategic interests. The presentation explores the many dimensions of the global water challenge and outlines potential steps forward for overcoming these problems. The presentation answers two basic questions: (1) why problems of water scarcity and water quality should be a priority for leaders and policymakers worldwide and (2) what leaders in the United States can and should be doing to address these critical issues.Class of 2025The CLASS OF 2025 initiative focuses on the high school graduates of the year 2025 who were born only in recent years. When those children—the Class of 2025—walk across the graduation stage, how will they look back on the presidential election of 2008? Their conclusion, most likely, will be: “Why couldn’t the leaders back then—way back in the year 2008—have done more for the next generation?” The goal of the Initiative is to visualize potential Americas—good, bad, and ugly—and develop concrete approaches and strategies on how to prepare the United States for a rapidly changing world.
